Thoroughly inspect the charging system output with a multimeter, both at idle and higher RPMs, to check for stator and regulator health.
Look for signs of fairing damage or poor reassembly, which might indicate previous accidents or difficult maintenance access.
Check all fluids (oil, coolant, brake fluid) for proper levels and condition, and ask for service records, especially for valve adjustments.
Test ride the bike extensively, paying attention to low-speed handling, brake feel, and any unusual noises from the engine or final drive.
Inspect tires for even wear and proper date codes, and check brake pads/discs for wear, as these are significant wear items.
Examine the frame for rust, especially near welds, and check electrical connectors for corrosion, common on older bikes.
Fork seal leaks
Verify the functionality of all lights, gauges, and switches, including heated grips if equipped.
